Several representatives of the Armenian community in Turkey also will be on hand at Thursday’s inauguration of President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ara Kocunyan, the Chief Editor of Jamanak Armenian daily of Istanbul, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“All of Turkey is focused on this ceremony, [and] the [country’s] Armenian community likewise has not remained indifferent to this event. The Armenian community closely follows all this, since our [Armenia] FM Edward Nalbandian is in [the Turkish capital city] Ankara, too.

“This certainly is an important event for Turkey, but one cannot say that there is a festive mood here,” he said.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan was PM since 2003, but he no longer could to run for this office. He won in the first round in Turkey’s first ever direct presidential general election, as he received 52 percent of the votes.
