After signing an agreement with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan RepublicIran

Georgian Deputy PM Kakha Kaladze, who is also the country’s Energy Minister, stated the aforementioned today, at a press-conference with SOCAR CEO Rovnag Abdullayev.

In the Minister’s words, the Georgian side has launched parallel talks with Iran since there was a mention on the technical problems of natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan, Georgia On-line reports.

“We had a meeting; we talked about the possibility to get Iranian gas. This is theoretically possible but there is no such necessity now. We have drawn out an agreement with a country and company, which is a strategic partner, and which will ensure the natural gas supply to Georgia and thus satisfy the market,” Kaladze stated.

Agreements between Georgia and SOCAR were signed in Tbilisi. Pursuant to them, the Azerbaijani side will increase the natural gas supplies to Georgia by 500 mln cu m, lowering the prices for social and commercial gas.
