YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan on Monday received Simon Fraser, the Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, who arrived in Armenia on a regional visit.
The President stressed that Armenia is interested in developing relations with Great Britain, the President’s Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
At the start of the meeting, Fraser handed to Sargsyan British PM David Cameron’s letter of congratulations and best wishes in connection with the presidential election that was held in Armenia on February 18.
The interlocutors discussed Armenia-UK relations, Armenia’s European integration process, and regional matters.
Upon the request of the UK Permanent Under Secretary, President Sargsyan spoke about Armenia’s business and investment climate, economic reforms, and future development programs.
In his turn, Under Secretary Fraser assured that the United Kingdom supports Armenia’s reforms, which will continue during Sargsyan’s second term in office.
Serzh Sargsyan and Simon Fraser also noted that the Armenian-British trade and economic ties have great potential for development, and they discussed the avenues for promoting economic cooperation.
