YEREVAN. – If he is guilty, he should be punished. But no one has the right to act disrespectfully toward an Armenian citizen.

Armenian National Assembly Deputy Speaker, ruling Republican Party spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Tuesday.

He commented on the arrest of Armenian truck driver Hrachya Harutyunyan in Moscow and the ensuing developments.  

The parliament vice-chair informed that he contacted the Armenian MFA representatives that are dealing with this matter. He also noted that the Russian-Armenian community is concerned.    

Sharmazanov added, however, that he does not take seriously those statements that are being made at present and which harm strategic relations between Armenia and Russia.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a truck crashed into a passenger bus on July 13 outside Moscow, and it was found out that the truck driver was an Armenian citizen by the name of Hrachya Harutyunyan. The impact of the crash was so powerful that the bus had split in two. The accident claimed 18 lives and injured 64 others. The court had Harutyunyan arrested on Monday. It is noteworthy that he was brought to the courtroom with a women’s robe.
