YEREVAN. – The opposition Armenian National Congress Party (ANCP) has serious financial problems and it is unable to fund its forty regional divisions, 168 Zham daily reports.

“According to sources that are close to the party, the reason is that by losing interest in ANCP after the [capital city] Yerevan Council of Elders elections, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) stopped providing financial support [to ANCP].

“[But] ANCP decided to change the PAP’s decision, using for this the impeachment matter of President Serzh Sargsyan. ANCP Vice-Chairman Levon Zurabyan stated that the ANC NA [i.e., Armenian National Congress National Assembly] Faction may put such issue into the agenda of the parliament in fall.

“If the draft resolution to apply to the CC [i.e., the Constitutional Court] on the impeachment matter is put to a vote, PAP will face a hard choice. In case of voting in favor, the PAP members will have serious problems with the authorities. And not voting would mean a destruction of PAP’s image as a non-pro-government party,” 168 Zham writes.
