YEREVAN. – ARF Dashnaktsutyun condemns Armenian authorities’ ungrounded decision to increase public transport fares by 50 percent.
In a statement issued on Monday, the party labeled government’s decision as “politically, economically, socially and legally unacceptable move.”
ARFD said the government once again misled the society provoking fear of uncertain future, being unsafe and unprotected. The party noted that explanations provided by the officials are hardly logical.
“From social and economic viewpoint, Armenian government’s move contradicts international norms where competition is the best instrument of pricing policy,” the statement reads.
The party demanded that the decision to raise transport fares must be suspended and offered to set up a group of experts to introduce a new price plan. They also voiced support for activists who are protecting their rights.
