YEREVAN. – Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan on Wednesday addressed three questions to Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.

In a formal letter, Ombudsman asked whether Mayor personally signed municipality’s decision and published it, according to the law.

“If the operating transport companies have applied to the municipality with a request to increase fares, why was not a new contest held to involve new companies offering services for 100 drams?” he wonders.

Ombudsman emphasized that rise in transport fares is impossible without holding public debates. Besides, the decision was made with serious breach of the law.
