YEREVAN. – Syrian refugees are creating tension in Lebanon and Turkey, expert on oriental studies Suren Manukyan believes.

He drew attention to the fact that in Turkey, a chain of tent cities stretching from the border with Syria to Diyarbakir, is creating social tension for the country, criminal danger as well as health risks.

“The camps are located there for a long time.Turkey would not like to have so many people who are doing nothing on its territory,” Manukyan noted.

In addition, refugee camps have become a corridor for smuggling, since the border management almost has no influence n these areas.

“Turkey is likely to set up military action to push the de facto border and move the refugee camps on the territory of Syria itself,” the expert said.

Lebanon, a country with population of only four million, has already hosted nearly million refugees from Syria. Therefore, the possible outbreak of war in Syria may also affect the humanitarian situation in the neighboring countries.
