Killing of civilians by gunfire at the line of contact is a great tragedy, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told reporters.

“Obviously, we feel very strongly that all incidents along the line of contact, all casualties along the line of contact are tragic and emphasize why this conflict has to be resolved hopefully as soon as possible,” APA agency quotes Morningstar as saying.

Ambassador said they are looking forward to the visit of newly appointed US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick.

“He will be coming to South Caucasus very soon. I know ambassador Warlick very well, he is skilled diplomat with a lot of experience. This will be his full time job as a Minsk Group co chair. He is a creative person and I am sure he will bring new ideas to the process,” he added.
