YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday received India’s parliamentary goodwill delegation led by Paban Singh Ghatowar, Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs of India.

Sargsyan stressed that the Indian MPs’ visit to Armenia is a good opportunity to get better acquainted with the country and the Armenian people, and to sense the latter’s warm disposition toward the Indian people, informs the Press Office of the President.     

Serzh Sargsyan attached huge importance to the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the strengthening of interstate relations, and the Indian delegation members concurred with the President.

The interlocutors stressed that there is a high level of political relations between Armenia and India, the two countries collaborate within international organizations, and they have a common approach on numerous matters.    

The parties expressed a conviction that Armenian-Indian relations are strengthening also owing to the Armenian community in India. The President thanked the Indian nation and government for their caring attitude toward the Armenian community and church in India.

Armenia’s President and the Indian delegation also discussed issues of mutual interest and the avenues for deepening the cooperation.

In addition, Sargsyan extended the Indian delegation members his condolences in connection with Wednesday’s major road accident in India. He wished a speedy recovery to the injured and expressed his support to the relatives of the dead.

On his part, Minister of State Paban Singh Ghatowar stressed that India attaches great importance to the development of relations with Armenia.
