YEREVAN. – The accession to Customs Union will not stifle economic competition in Armenia, chairman of Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition said.

“You need an effect of a big market to reduce the price, and hence the growth of production and sales. Our market is limited and export is complicated, so we could not hope for a big market so far. But right now our companies may have a boost because Customs Union opens new markets. Therefore, we, on the contrary, may witness the reduction of costs of goods,” Shaboyan said.

In July the head of the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service Igor Artemyev informed about ongoing preparation for creation of a supranational anti-monopoly authority under the Customs Union.

Shaboyan assured that the Armenian side is actively involved in this process.
