YEREVAN. – Armenia has good positions among the CIS and Eastern Europe states in terms of anti-monopoly legislation, said chairman of Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition.

Artak Shaboyan recalled that in the last Global Competitiveness Report issued by the World Economic Forum in 2013, Armenia moved up by three spots.

In particular, in terms of the intensity of local competition Armenia has advanced 28 points. According to this indicator, Armenia is the first among the CIS states.

Armenia has moved 19 spots up on effectiveness of anti-monopoly policy and also ranks first among the CIS countries.

Speaking about the World Bank report Shaboyan noted that the state commission had already submitted its views on disagreement with the methodology of the study.

According to the report, Armenia’s economy is ranked the first on monopolies among the countries of CIS and Eastern Europe.
