If Turks had sought Hakan Karadag’s death they would have murdered him like Hran Dink, Editor of the Agos newspaper (a bilingual Turkish-Armenian weekly) Aris Nalci told NEWS.am.

As to whether it was a murder or suicide, Nalci said that mass media and experts are trying to link the lawyer’s death with national minorities’ problem. A security guard killed a catholic priest two days ago, and many people think a movement has been launched against national and religious minorities. The last two incidents are viewed in this context, Nalci said. “I cannot say for certain if it was a muder or suicide. My personal opinion is that Turks would have murdered the lawyer as they murdered Hrant Dink if they wanted to intimidate national minorities,” he said.

Nalci shares the opinion that it may be a rigged suicide. As to Karadag’s mental health, Nalci said he was not personally acquainted with the lawyer but knows he had inclinations. At the latest court sitting he got into an argument with Dink’s murderer Ogun Samast.

Hakan Karadag, 40, one of the lawyers in Hrant Dink’s trial, was found dead in his house in Istanbul.
