Azerbaijan has announced its willingness to ensure the safety of Armenian athletes during the 2015 European Games, which will be held for the first time and in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku, Interfax Azerbaijan reported.
“We will ensure the safety of all participants in the European Games, including the representatives of Armenia,” stated Chingiz Huseynzade, the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan.
He noted that the relevant state agencies are dealing with this matter.
“[And] if anyone wants to come to Baku to support their athletes, naturally, we stand ready to ensure their safety, too,” Huseynzade also stressed responding to the query on ensuring the safety of Armenian supporters.
European Olympic Committee President Patrick Hickey had told the Washington Times that the Armenian athletes will participate in the 2015 European Games.
