YEREVAN. – The Azerbaijani delegation had found itself in an awkward position at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly meeting, since it presented a report which had virtually nothing to do with Azerbaijan.

The head of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Delegation to the Euronest, Artak Zakaryan, who is also Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, stated the above-said at a press conference on Monday.

As per Zakaryan, the Azerbaijanis, as usual, attempted to link any vibrant matter to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and express their stand on this issue. European parliamentarians, however, had called upon them not to overload the session’s agenda with other matters.

The Armenian deputy also informed that the Euronest has new MPs with whom work needs to be done.

“The European MPs do not always have the correct picture of the Karabakh issue, and they very often ask to organize excursions to the NKR [i.e., the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, or Artsakh].

“We invited everyone to Armenia and the NKR, since they consider the visit very important,” Zakaryan said.

In this regard, as per the Armenian MP, the European Union-Artsakh Parliamentary Group’s formation in the European Parliament is important.

Artak Zakaryan also highlighted that the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly shall not become a platform to discuss main problems.
