Charles Aznavour called Pope Francis a “strong man,” who for the first time used the word “genocide” to describe the massacre of the Armenians one hundred years ago.
Le Parisien TV informed the aforesaid, and posted its interview with the world-renowned French Armenian singer, songwriter, actor, public activist, and diplomat.
“Not solely the Armenian Genocide, but all other genocides need to be recognized so they no longer recur,” Aznavour specifically said.
He expressed the hope that Turkey will take the first step toward genocide recognition, and he noted that this step will be important not only for Armenians, but for all others.
Aznavour also stressed that he values strong people who work in the right direction, and stated that he considers Pope Francis such a person.
