YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, received US Ambassador Richard Mills.

Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Armenia Mission, Karen Hilliard, also attended the talk.

The PM highly praised Armenia’s productive cooperation and joint projects with the US, and thanked the American government for its continued support to Armenia.

Subsequently, the interlocutors discussed Armenian-American relations.

Ambassador Mills noted that the US will continue its joint programs with Armenia. At the same time, however, the diplomat stated that, due to some key international issues, the US administration has decided to cut down the funding of some ongoing programs in a variety of countries, including Armenia. But Mills stressed that this is in no way related to the effectiveness of Armenian-American joint programs, or strong bilateral relations.

Karen Hilliard, for her part, said the implementation of USAID programs in Armenia continues to be a priority for this US agency, and that these programs will be continuous.

The parties also reflected on several matters of mutual interest, and exchanged views on the present-day political and economic situation in the region.
