YEREVAN. – An atrocity was carried out against the Armenian people one hundred years ago, yet Turkey still does not recognize what had occurred, and this is a manifestation of inhuman policy and treatment.

Russian Federation Council member Nikolai Ryzhkov, who is also Co-Chairman of the Russian–Armenian Commission on Interparliamentary Cooperation, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations are held in Russia in the lead-up to this anniversary on Friday, April 24.

“I was recently asked why is it that we can understand this pain.” Ryzhkov said. “Since we have seen something like this seventy years ago, when the German occupants were doing with the Soviet people what the Turks were doing with the Armenians one hundred years ago.”

Nikolai Ryzhkov added that the Russian parliamentarians have done everything possible to properly mark the Genocide centenary.
