YEREVAN. - The denial of the Armenian Genocide by the Turkish government can lead to new crimes against humanity, Greek MEP Emmanouil Glezos, 93, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to him, the Turkish government is trying to lay the blame on the entire Turkish nation, which isn’t actually responsible for the crimes committed by its ancestors. “Moreover, denying the Armenian Genocide and not carrying punishment for the crime, the Turkish government seeks to avoid responsibility for ethnic cleansing in Cyprus. Those cleansings continue as a result of the occupation of the northern part of the island, despite all the UN decisions which constantly condemn the invasion and the ongoing occupation,” Emmanouil Glezos said.

On April 15 the European Parliament adopted by a majority vote a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide and calling on Turkey to pave the way for reconciliation with Armenia.
