Although Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin refrained from using the term ‘genocide’ at the meeting with the Armenian community representatives, the Turkish press widely referred to Riblin’s statement that “The Armenian people were the first victims of modern mass killing.”
Almost all Turkish mass media reacted to this statement, and some of them considered this as a shocker for Turkey.
Turk Time wrote that Israel’s President didn’t miss the opportunity to avoid falling behind the others in accusing the Turks. In Asil Haber the news appeared under the headline ‘Israel starts campaign against Turkey.’ The Turkish Haberciniz website referred to the statement under the headline ‘Armenian signal aimed at Turkey by Israel.’ Referring to the news Mansethaber wrote the headline “Arrogant words from Israel State,” while TurkishNY regarded Revlin’s step as “Israel’s dirty statement.”
