YERAVAN. - On Monday Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan received six members of the group Genealogy, which will represent Armenia in Eurovision international song contest 2015.

The group members, who symbolize the five petals of the forget-me-not flower, represent the new generation of Armenian nation, which is spread on five continents, as well as Armenia. The group includes Essaï Altounian from Europe, Tamar Kaprelian from United States, Vahe Tilbian from Africa, Mary-Jean O'Doherty Basmadjian from Australia, Stephanie Topalian from Asia and Inga Arshakyan from Armenia. During the contest Genealogy will present the song ‘Face the Shadow,’ which is about universal human values: love, agreement, faith and genealogy of generations.

Public TV and Radio Company Council Ruben Jaghinyan and  Armenia’s Head of Eurovision Delegation Gohar Gasparyan also attended the meeting with the President, Armenian News – NEWS.am reports.

The President issued Armenian passports to the group members, who live abroad and who requested the President to grant them Armenian citizenship. Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the beautiful idea of representing Armenia in Eurovision international song contest in this unique format.

“You have seen for yourself that the Armenian Genocide Centennial commemoration events and their numerous responses worldwide confirmed that when we unite around one idea, we always achieve success.  I’m sure you’ll also be a success, since you have actually united round one idea; your song is wonderful, and the idea is great too, Serzh Sargsyan said.

Armenian participants of Eurovision contest 2015 thanked the President for the warm words and reception, noting that it gives them a new impetus, inspiration and disposition to participate in the contest with greater responsibility. They also underscored the importance of Armenian Genocide recognition in Austria, where the contest will be held. According to the members, that will allow them to feel stronger and more confident in Vienna.
