Armenia children are born more often to Harutyunyan and Sargsyan families

YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Statistical Service has publicized the most common surnames among Armenia’s newborns in 2014.

Accordingly, the most common last name among the newborn girls was Harutyunyan, which was followed by the Grigoryan and Hovhannisyan family names.

The respective “leader” among the newborn boys, on the other hand, was the surname  Sargsyan, which was followed by the Harutyunyan and Hovhannisyan last names.

Khachatryan is also in the top five most common surnames.

The list includes the 46 most common last names, and they are virtually the same for the newborn boys and girls, alike.
