YEREVAN. – A workshop, with participation by members of the TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange) international expert group of the European Union (EU), was held in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

At the event, which was held at the initiative of the Investigative Committee of Armenia (ICA), the TAIEX group members presented the preliminary results of their expert mission to the country, reported the ICA Information and Public Relations Department.

ICA Head Aghvan Hovsepyan recorded that significant steps have been taken in the past months toward the establishment of the committee, improvement of the investigators’ work conditions, and development of their professional skills. Hovsepyan drew a particular attention to the investigators, and the requirements for their conduct.

The EU TAIEX international expert group has arrived in Yerevan at the invitation of the ICA, and it has gotten familiarized with the activities and work conditions of the committee. The TAIEX experts have also had working meetings.

As a result of the visit, the international experts are expected to present a report on the activities carried out by, current challenges of, and capacity building toward the ICA’s establishment as an independent state agency.
