YEREVAN. – The Armed Forces of Armenia excellently defend the borders and restrain the adversary’s “activeness.”
The Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan, stated the aforementioned at Thursday’s Cabinet session.
In his words, overall, the situation is under control on Armenia’s border, and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s Line of Contact, with Azerbaijan.
Ohanyan added that even though the adversary had showed some restraint during the European Games which the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku had hosted, thereafter the tension sometimes escalates and sometimes plummets.
“Our neighbors [i.e. Azerbaijan] will attempt to gain some political dividends from it for themselves,” stressed the Armenian defense minister. “The adversary responds to our calls for dialogue with an escalation of tension.
“[But] we stand ready not only to defend, but also to carry out preventive measures and appropriate containment mechanisms.”
