YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia will not help big businesses in the electricity tariffs, announced Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
In his words, there is a societal impression that the government is willing to subsidize the electricity price hike for not solely the residents, but also for the big business in Armenia.
“In reality, the situation is quite different,” noted Abrahamyan. “The President of the republic stated that we [i.e. the government] are taking upon us the [electricity price hike] burden of the population.
“We are also thinking about the methods for assisting the small and medium-sized business [in the country].
“But I don’t think that the government should fund [in this respect] the big business, too.”
