YEREVAN. - The Syrian Kessab city’s Armenian community, consisting of two thousand Armenians, has existed for 600 years away from the homeland and still continues to preserve Armenian language and culture, while not all communities manage to do this, Kessab’s Armenian community representative Chant Lntsian, who has arrived in Armenia to take part in the Pan-Armenian Games, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.  

According to him, absolutely all Armenians, who left their houses during the attack on Kessab, wanted to return to Syria. Armenian community members, according to Lntsian, helped each other and restored their destructed houses and churches as much as possible. Now almost everyone has returned to their homes, he said. “Regardless of how much I wish to return to my big homeland, Armenia, I can’t, since I can’t leave my small homeland, Kessab. It has Armenian spirit which needs to be preserved. We will do this,” the Armenian sportsman residing in Syria said.
