YEREVAN.  -- The Azerbaijani forces launched offensive actions on the contact line with  the Nagorno-Karabakh Armed Forces, flagrantly violating the ceasefire regime on the night of April 2.  The clashes continue.

  • Karabakh MOD: The Azerbaijani side took offensive actions on the southern, southeast and northeast directions of the line of contact with the Nagorno-Karabakh Armed Forces on the night of April 2. The artillery, armored machinery and the Air Force have been used. Azerbaijan has launched strikes at peaceful settlements.
  • Karabakh army: Azerbaijani helicopter is annihilated on the northern part of the contact line. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces continue large-scale offensive actions.

  • Spokesperson for Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan: The Armenian Armed Forces have started a counterattack. There are casualties on both sides.
  • MOD of Armenia: Continuation of hostilities can lead to unpredictable consequences for the Azerbaijani side.
  • Karabakh Defense Army: The Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from ММ-21. A 12-year-old boy, Vaghinak Grigoryan was killed. Two other children were wounded.
  • Spokesperson for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov: This criminal action of Azerbaijan along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan border is terrorism toward the people of Karabakh.
  • Spokesperson for Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan: Armenia is in touch with international organizations and foreign countries’ military and diplomatic representatives.
  • The Russian Foreign Ministry is studying the reports regarding the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
  • Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office is aware of the escalation of situation on the Line of Contact.
  • MOD: The Defense Army special task force subdivision eliminated a diversion investigative group of the adversary. The latter retreated, leaving numerous losses.
  • Spokesperson for Armenian president Vladimir Hakobyan: Serzh Sargsyan was reported regarding the exacerbation of the situation along the Line of Contact. The President’s plane will land in capital city Yerevan in the coming hours.
  • Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan: The state institutions of Armenia are ready to contribute through their full capacities to taking necessary measures towards the stabilization of the situation.
  • Spokesperson for Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan: In addition to a helicopter, the Azerbaijani army lost a drone and a tank during the battles.
  • Karabakh official: The Karabakh forces annihilated two Azerbaijani helicopters,  two drones and three tanks.

  • President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Bako Sahakyan, chaired the NKR Security Council meeting devoted to the large-scale ceasefire violations from Azerbaijani side.
  • Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov: President Putin calls for immediate ceasefire.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to the international community with a demand to call Azerbaijan to order.
  • The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova: Russia started consultations with its partners, the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
  • Spokesperson for Karabakh President, Davit Babayan: Stepanakert stands for peaceful settlement of the conflict. But if Baku continues to make an attempt to destabilize the situation, this will end in Baku and with waving of the Artsakh flag.
  • Russia Defense Ministry: Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu held urgent talks by phone with the Defense Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
  • Two children, Gevorg Grigoryan,15, and Vardan Andreasyan,16 are in a grave but stable condition.

  • Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) official representative Maria Zakharova: Moscow is in constant contact with the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan over with the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
  •  Russian Foreign Ministry: Sergey Lavrov urged the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Armenia to influence the situation to stop violence in Karabakh.
  •  President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan convened a special National Security Council meeting.
  •  Russian State Duma deputy Boris Reznik: The international community needs to stop the military actions that have started in Karabakh.
  •  Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian had phone conversations with his Russian colleague and OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
  •  CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zaynetdinov: The actions by Baku only exacerbate the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
  •  CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha had a talk with Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan.
  •  Speaker of the National Assembly of Karabakh Ashot Ghulian has interrupted his working visit to France.
  •  NKR Ministry of Health: The condition of six wounded in Karabakh is critical but stable.
  •  Spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan: The battles continue in different directions.
  • Military expert Vladimir Yevseyev: There must be international response to Baku’s actions.
  • Armenian National Committee of America: The silence of Obama’s administration greenlights renewed aggression for Azerbaijan.
  • OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs: We rigidly condemn use of force and we regret the senseless loss of human life, including civilians.
  • The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolay Bordyuzha, discussed the escalation of Karabakh conflict with the Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian.
  • The US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group  James Warlick: Co-Chairs will get together to discuss the exacerbation of the situation at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone on April 5. 
  • The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan has officially admitted that 12 servicemen were killed, admitted the loss of one of its helicopters and a tank.

  • OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier: Sides should return to negotiating table. 
  • Catholicos of All Armenians urged the international community to prevent Azerbaijani encroachments. 
  • France's Foreign Ministry urged the conflicting  parties to respect ceasefire and to resume negotiations. 
  • NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and the Special Representative for Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai: The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh must be stabilized.
