YEREVAN. – On the occasion of the forthcoming Independence Day anniversary of the United States, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday visited the residence of US Ambassador Richard Mills.

Press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that, in connection with this holiday, President Sargsyan congratulated Ambassador Mills and, in his person, the staff of the Embassy and the people of the United States, and wished success in the continuous development and strengthening of the Armenian-American relations.

The President of Armenia highly valued the input of the United States to Armenia’s economic development since its independence, strengthening of democracy and maturing of the civil society, noting that he is hopeful that after the upcoming US presidential elections, bilateral relations will continue to develop with dynamism.

Ambassador Richard Mills, for his part, noted that he has been closely following the developments in Armenia for the past 25 years, and agreed with President Sargsyan on the accomplishments achieved in the country in the mentioned period of time.

The US ambassador stressed that Armenian citizens can rightfully take pride in the progress which their country achieved in the last quarter of the century in the economic, social, and political domains. He said he is glad that the people and Government of the United States have played their part in this progression.
