YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirodjidin Aslov.
Press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the President expressed the hope that the FM’s visit will give new impetus to the strengthening and deepening of Armenian-Tajik relations, promote the high-level reciprocal visits, and allow for a greater use of the great existing potential for cooperation, for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
On behalf of Armenia, Sargsyan expressed readiness to intensify bilateral contacts and visits, and underscored that there are no obstacles before the further deepening of relations between the friendship states of Armenia and Tajikistan; the two countries effectively cooperate within the framework of the CSTO and various international platforms.
The Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, for his part, conveyed to the President of Armenia the warm greetings from President Emomali Rahmon, and his best wishes and readiness to further deepen state relations.
Minister Aslov also spoke with satisfaction about the close Armenian-Tajik cooperation within the framework of a variety of organizations, and highlighted that the positions of the two countries are often close to one another on urgent regional and international issues. With regard to the development of bilateral relations, the Tajik FM attached great importance to the intergovernmental commission, whose activities, according to Minister Aslov, need a boost.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views also on the current regional and international issues and challenges, and discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. President Sargsyan thoroughly spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan about the latest developments in the respective negotiations.
