Russia is the main military threat to Sweden, said the Swedish Commander of the Armed Forces Michael Byuden on Gotland Island during Almedalen political week.

“Russia is undoubtedly the greatest military threat,” cites his words the Dagens Nyheter.

At the same time he admitted that no one is going to attack the Scandinavian country. "The general assessment of the military forces is that there is unlikely to happen any military attack." Michael Byuden thinks that the exit of the UK from the EU beneficial for Russia. “The decision ( of withdrawal ) is beneficial for Russia , since Russia rather prefers to speak in a bilateral format, than with such a large organization as the EU ,” said the commander in chief , reports TASS.

Earlier, the Swedish government announced about increasing military spending and allocating extra 6.2 billion crones ( 680 million euros ) in the next few years for the security. Thus , Sweden’s  defense budget in 2020 can reach 46.6 billion crones (5.12 billion euros ) .
