YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday received Ambassador Herbert Salber, European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, who is visiting Armenia.

The Presidential Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the interlocutors reflected on Armenia-EU cooperation and relations.

They also exchanged views on the latest developments with respect to the negotiation process toward achieving a resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the implementation of the relevant agreements that were reached during the recent meetings in Vienna and St. Petersburg. 

The President stressed that Armenia highly appreciates the EU’s commitment to create a favorable climate for a comprehensive settlement of the conflict, and its efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

At the request of the guest, President Sargsyan presented Armenia’s efforts aimed at resolving the conflict by way of peace talks. He also assured that the Armenian side stands ready to continue its constructive steps and cooperation toward establishing peace and ensuring regional security.

The President of Armenia and the EU special representatives shared the view that Armenia-EU bilateral relations are developing with dynamism. Serzh Sargsyan and Herbert Salber expressed the hope that the ongoing talks, in connection with the new Armenia- EU framework agreement, will be concluded with success in the coming months.
