The opening of a monument to the family Balian, famous architects of Istanbul with Armenian roots, opened at an Armenian cemetery of Istanbul.

The opening ceremony of a monument, which was built thanks to the brothers Hrach and Hakob Kirmizian, was attended by Archbishop Aram Ateshyan, mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas, Deputy Minister of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry Omer Aresoy, numerous representatives of the Armenian community and journalists.

In turn, the mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas noted that the architects of the Balian dynasty in the 18th and 19th centuries in Istanbul created a wonderful architectural design.

The monument was built in the form of the altar of the church Surb Astvatsatsin that the Balians built in Besiktas, the deputy minister said.

The palaces, towers, churches and mosques built Balian are considered tourist destinations in Istanbul.
