Activist and one of the leaders of Greenpeace USA, Karen Topakian, is taking part in the protest in Washington.

A group of Greenpeace activists climbed a crane in downtown D.C. on Wednesday and unfurled a 'resist' banner as a sign of protest against Trump’s policy. The activists have attached themselves to the crane.

Topakian explained the protests by the actions and promises of U.S. President Donald Trump, including his decision to remove the ban on the construction of oil pipelines, which the activists opposed. Another reason is the ban on funding NGOs dealing with abortions, Meduza reports. 

The crane is located in the northwestern part of the city at 15th Street and L Street, not far from the White House.

The protest has delayed the traffic, the newspaper writes. Policemen and rescuers are on the site but they don’t interfere with the happening.

The police stated that “while we respect everyone's right to protest, today's actions are extremely dangerous and unlawful.”
