President Donald Trump said on Friday that Syrian Christians will be given priority when it comes to applying for refugee status in the United States, according to Reuters news agency.

“If you were a Muslim, you could come in [the US], but if you were a Christian, it was almost impossible,” he noted, in particular.

The US president added that Christians were persecuted more than others during the violence in Syria.
