VAZASHEN. – The residents of Vazashen border village of Armenia’s Tavush Province on Monday asked former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan, who heads the proportional representation list of the Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian alliance for the forthcoming parliamentary election in the country, why the volunteers who participated in the April 2016 war were not paid.

“We kept [military] posts for two months,” Vazashen resident Hayk Ghazaryan told Ohanyan, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from on location. “At first, we were told that we will be paid, and then they explained that we are old.”

In the ex-defense minister’s words, however, there was a misunderstanding, and they need to petition to the district military commissariat regarding this matter.

The Vazashen residents told us that they were at the frontlines in April and May of the year past.

At the same time, however, they tanked Seyran Ohanyan for the assistance he had provided to the village.
