Armenia should continue to focus on sustainable and inclusive growth, Tao Zhang, Deputy Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said in his video address on the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s membership in the IMF.
Zhang arrived in Armenia to participate in the constituency meeting of the caucus of IMF member countries, which includes Armenia and is led by Belgium and the Netherlands.
For the past 25 years, Armenia has made significant progress in enhancing macroeconomic stability, a satisfactory growth rate, while managing to control inflation and balancing the budget relatively well, he said.
The IMF has always been happy to help the country with policy advice, technical assistance, and financial support.
Armenia should capitalize on opportunities and address challenges to diversify and modernize the economy, to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.
“We look forward to continue cooperation with Armenian authorities, and stand ready to help Armenia and its people,” Tao Zhang added.
