YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan does not deny that it used arms forbidden by the international conventions, the member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, Naira Zohrabyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am, commenting on Tuesday’s provocations by the Azerbaijani side.

On Tuesday evening, the Azerbaijani forces, which are located nearby Alkhanlu village, opened fire on positions of Karabakh Defense Army. A 52-year-old Azerbaijani woman and a 2-year-old girl died in the ensuing exchange of fire.

“We are ready to discuss this tragic incident at PACE, as well as the barbaric acts committed by Azerbaijanis during the April war: beheading of a family in Talish village, murder of a child on his way to school. As a mother, a deputy, I mourn the death of a two-year-old Azerbaijani girl, because a child of any nationality is a child for me, and I do not want to see children, Armenians or Azerbaijanis, die,” Zohrabyan said.

She noted that it is Azerbaijan that rejects a mechanism of investigation.

“And I ask the head of the Azerbaijani delegation Samed Seyidov: ‘Why is Azerbaijan rejecting?’ The answer is the following: Azerbaijan is well aware that the investigation will confirm the aggression of Azerbaijan. We are ready to discuss this and have all the facts that Azerbaijan acts in the spirit of the Islamic State,” Naira Zohrabyan stressed.

The member of the Armenian delegation to PACE also believes that in this way Azerbaijan is trying to shift the focus of the discussions at PACE.
