Germany's Foreign Ministry does not see any opportunity to continue negotiations on Customs union between Turkey and the EU, RIA Novosti reported quoting German FM  Sigmar Gabriel.

Sigmar Gabriel noted that he could not imagine talks on expanding the customs union between Turkey and the EU, when citizens of Europenan Union are subjected to arrest in Turkey without any reason.

Turkish court ruled on Wednesday to put six human rights activists, including Amnesty’s Turkey director, Idil Eser, in custody. Citizen of Germany, Peter Steudtner  was among them.

German government spokesman Steffen Seibert expressed solidarity with the German human rights activist. Germany's Foreign Ministry has demanded immediate release of Steudtner, adding that the accusations are absurd.
