YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan is trying to blame the victims of the Armenian pogroms of committing these crimes, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said.

Asked about the comments of the Foreign Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan in connection with the anniversary of the tragic events, the minister noted that this is a strange duo.

“The Azerbaijani side is trying to avoid responsibility and is blaming the victims for the crime. The history knows examples to what consequences such attempts can lead. The denial of such crimes and the accusation of the victim creates a fertile ground for new crimes. After Sumgait, there was a massacre in Kirovabad, Gandzak, Baku, and so on. An example of recent history is the large-scale aggression in April 2016, during which Azerbaijani servicemen committed horrible ISIS-style crimes,” he said.

Attempts to avoid responsibility will not yield results and they will have to answer sooner or later, Nalbandian concluded.
