The index of economic confidence in Turkey fell by 15.4% in September, Reuters reported.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, the economic confidence index fell to 71.0 points in September from 83.9 points a month earlier, which was the biggest decline since the end of 2008 and the lowest level since March 2009.

One of the signs of the economic crisis that Turkey is experiencing is the statement of the Tofas automaker on the suspension of production in Bursa for nine days in October due to local market contraction, which reduced the company's shares by 5%.

QNB Finansbank economist Deniz Cicek said the slide in confidence was inevitable given previously revealed declines in consumer and manufacturing sector confidence in the wake of the drop in the value of the lira.

Lira has lost more than 40% in value since the beginning of the year. The central bank of the republic raised the basic interest rate to 24%, despite sharp criticism of this measure from the president himself.
