President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev voiced support for the candidacy of Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of Belarus Security Council, for the post of CSTO Secretary General.

“In Saint Petersburg the leaders decided to support your candidacy offered by Alexander Lukashenko,” he said during a meeting with Zas.

Nazarbayev believes that Zas has all necessary skills and knowledge for working at this post.

“You are familiar with the work of CSTO. You participated in our meetings and consultations. We will support you,” the Kazakh president said.

In November, Armenian authorities recalled the country’s representative Yuri Khachaturov from the office of CSTO Secretary General.

Khachaturov has been charged in Armenia within the framework of the criminal case into the tragic events that transpired in capital city Yerevan on March 1 and 2, 2008.
