From now on, the Government of Armenia will determine the need for maintenance of the profiles of health facilities during their privatization. This is what Vice-Chairman of the State Property Management Committee of Armenia Vardan Kostanyan said during a discussion on the bill on making amendments to the Law on the 2017-20 Plan for Privatization of State Property held as part of the session of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia today.

According to him, back in 2017, 17 health facilities were included in the 2017-20 privatization plan, of which five medical centers still haven’t been privatized. “Taking into consideration the fact that the program is drawing to an end, a need emerged to make amendments so that the government has the opportunity to determine the appropriateness of maintenance of the profile of the facilities during alienation. If the profiles aren’t maintained, those facilities will be dissolved,” Kostanyan said.

Kostanyan also stated that the Ministry of Health of Armenia believes that, besides the Center for Production of Radioisotopes, maintenance of the profiles of the other health facilities is inappropriate. Moreover, according to him, there won’t be government funding for the Neuroses Clinic anymore starting from 2021.
