The sanitary authorities in Bulgaria are imposing restrictions in connection with a sharp increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19 in the country, health minister Kostadin Angelov on Thursday at a briefing said that the general quarantine will be introduced from March 22 for 10 days.

The situation in the country continues to deteriorate, the number of cases is growing, this forces us to introduce restrictive measures at the national level. They will be introduced for 10 days from Monday, Angelov said.

Bulgarian doctors have identified 4,201 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, which is 173 less than the day before. The total number of cases in the country reached 291,769. 136 patients with coronavirus died per day, the number of deaths reached 11,715. Currently, 7,804 patients are being treated in hospitals - 609 of them are in intensive care units.
