The governor of New York State and the legislators have reached a deal on the legalization of recreational marijuana, The New York Times reported.

Accordingly, recreational use of marijuana will be legal in the state for people over the age of 21.

The law will also allow the delivery of cannabis.

The New York Senate and Assembly may pass the respective bill next week.

If passed, New York will become the fifteenth US state to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes.
