Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Vice-Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) group at the Turkish Parliament stated that he intends to seek nomination as party chairman.
At his May 17 press conference Kilicdaroglu also reported that he had already handed in resignation as Vice-Chairman of the group.

Former CHP leader Deniz Baykal intends to meet with Kilicdaroglu on May 14.

Deniz Baykal has recently been involved in a sex scandal. On May 4, he filed resignation as CHP chairman, condemning the authorities for provocations.
