The NKR Central Electoral Commission approved the final results of the May 23 parliamentary elections in Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to the results, the Free Motherland Party led by NKR Premier Ara Harutyunayn heads the poll — 14 out of 33 seats. The Democratic Party of Artsakh gained eight seats, and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun, six. Five independent candidates were elected as well.
May 23, parliamentary elections were held on a mixed proportional and single-member basis. Four political parties laid claims to 17 of 33 seats in the NKR Parliament.
About 120 international observers from France, Russia, U.S., Italy, Germany, Greece, UK, Argentina, Ireland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Iran, the Netherlands, Canada, Slovakia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transdniestria as well as a large group from Armenia were present. The observers called the elections free and transparent.
