About 100 trucks carrying Kurdish families passed through the checkpoint Sarpi on the Turkish-Georgian border moving into Georgia and then to Azerbaijan on the night of August 3, Azerbaijani-based Poligon news agency reports referring to law enforcers.
According to sources, Kurdish families had fled different regions of Turkey. They explained to the Georgian customs officials they will be engaged in field work in Azerbaijan. However, according to a source, it is only a pretext for Kurds who are moving to Azerbaijan for permanent residence.
