At their meeting in Yerevan Thursday, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Georgia discussed a broad range of matters related to the development of bilateral relations. This was announced by Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a joint press conference following his meeting with his visiting Georgian colleague, Maka Botchorishvili.

The Armenian FM recalled that last year a document on strategic cooperation was signed between the two countries, and this gave a deeper nature to their relations. According to Mirzoyan, the relations between the two administrations are developing, the foreign ministries of the two countries are in constant contact, and consultations are being held.

The two parties discussed the huge economic and transit potential of the South Caucasus. In this context, Mirzoyan recalled the Armenian part's Crossroads of Peace initiative, which implies cooperation between the three countries of the region, as well as ties with a larger region—with the participation of other countries.

Also, the FM confirmed Armenia’s commitment to the process of normalizing of relations with Azerbaijan. The Armenian government is committed to the peace agenda, which includes the unblocking of regional communications and the delimitation of borders. This applies to the delimitation of the border with Georgia as well, Mirzoyan added.

In turn, Georgian FM Botchorishvili noted that Armenia is traditionally among Georgia’s top ten partners and is among the three most active countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting Georgia. Tbilisi is determined to further deepen relations with Yerevan, and the 14th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation scheduled for today is an additional opportunity to discuss all topics and domains of mutual interest, she added.

Also, the Georgian foreign minister invited her Armenian counterpart to visit Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.
