It was decided to put off the second—and final—reading of the draft law on Armenia’s accession to the European Union (EU) until the beginning of the next four-day parliamentary session. This decision was made during Monday’s especial meeting of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly of Armenia.

According to the chair of the aforesaid committee, Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract Party, this bill requires considerable technical revision.

It was planned to be implemented today, but the respective work was so extensive that the specialists and MPs simply could not fit it into the deadlines.

For this reason, Yeghoyan asked the main rapporteur, Republic Party representative Artak Zeynalyan, to agree to their request.

Zeynalyan agreed—but on the condition that this draft law shall be submitted before the next four-day session of the parliament. According to him, there is no question of postponing the debates for two months—as this is the period set by current legislation.
