South Korea fired large-scale artillery shots at night near the sea border with North Korea on the eastern coast of the Korean Peninsula, Yonhap reports.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the South Korean ground forces conducted large-scale night exercises near the northern border line of the Sea of Japan, with naval firing from self-propelled artillery units and multiple rocket launchers, the aforesaid news agency reported.

More than 40 South Korean K9A1, K55A1, K105A1 self-propelled guns and K239 Chonmu MLRS took part in the firing.

More than 300 people were involved, as well as anti-aircraft radar stations and drones.

More than 600 shells were fired from the coast of Goseong County, bordering Gangwon Province. All of them fell into South Korean waters.
